Hi, I’m Kandis!

Welcome to my little slice of the internet, I’m so glad that you are here!

As a young child, I was always cooking and baking for my family. I fondly remember many a multi-course Valentine’s Day meals made for my parents (although I’m not sure they have the same fond memories of those meals, haha).

As a family of three girls travel usually meant heading to wherever we could drive to… which often involved 12 hour straight drives that I won’t say we were always well behaved for. But I am grateful to have seen some of the world around me at a young age.

I didn’t take my first plane ride until my sister got married in Jamaica in 2007 (at this point I was already in University, to age myself completely right now)! Ever since then I have been blessed to travel a lot more (for work and for fun) and am so inspired by the cultures of the world. I always say that for me to feel like I have really immersed myself in a place means that I have to enjoy it’s food! I love the feeling of preparing a meal that everyone can gather around and enjoy… and I love being able to sit and enjoy something prepared by loving hands myself. It’s funny, I wouldn’t peg myself as having much of a “sweet tooth” but I really love making desserts for others. I have an 8 year old at home whose love for cooking and baking has inspired me in so many ways.

Sometimes you’ll catch me on here sharing a nostalgic family favourite, and other times something inspired by travel and experiencing life from another point of view. I gather inspiration from everywhere! You’ll usually find me trying to figure out how to make a strange combination of things “work” together… or watching a show on Netflix and pulling out my phone to jot down some baking ideas from a completely unlikely source.

For me, baking is a creative outlet, and I’m looking forward to sharing it with you.

Happy eating! Xo
